The role of geodesy in the restoration of Ukraine’s transport infrastructure in wartime: a student’s success at the international level
Sumy National Agrarian University continues to confidently develop the scientific potential of its students, providing them with opportunities to participate in prestigious international events. One such event was the International Student Research Competition «Restoration of Ukraine’s Transport Infrastructure: Global Experience», held at Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University.
A vivid example of successful scientific achievement is the work of master’s student Daryna Kanivets, who presented her research titled «application of terrestrial photogrammetry in engineering and geodetic surveys of road service facilities.» In her study, she not only demonstrated solid theoretical knowledge but also offered a modern perspective on the use of innovative technologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of spatial data acquisition.
The research was conducted under the academic supervision of Associate Professor Olena Kanivets of the Department of Geodesy and Land Management and Senior Lecturer Vasyl Kovalchuk, who guided the study in line with current challenges.
The work was presented within a section dedicated to innovative methods of geodetic support and received high recognition from the expert jury. According to the competition results, Daryna Kanivets was awarded a third-degree diploma, while her academic supervisors received certificates of appreciation for their professionalism and high-quality preparation of the participant.
This achievement is not only a personal success of the student and her mentors but also an important step in promoting modern geodetic technologies. Participation in such competitions contributes to shaping a new generation of specialists capable of innovative thinking, confident action, and meaningful contribution to the restoration and development of Ukraine’s transport infrastructure.
